After this, feel free to contact me :)

The temperature widget

This widget will show you the current device temperature of your android smartphone. When tapping on the widget, it will open the app Battery Temperature Guard. You can customize Celsius and Fahrenheit scale. To customize the textsize of the widget, please follow this guide.

The battery details Widget

This widget features three flat icons for each temperature, voltage and battery level of your smartphone. The battery level indicator icon will present the charging state of your battery in percent or a charging icon when charging.

How to add a Widget to your homescreen?


This depends on your android version. The workflow is a little bit different.

On Android version 2.2/2.3

  • Go to your Homescreen
  • Do a long click or press menu and choose "add"
  • Choose Widgets
  • Scroll down and choose the widget you want to add


On Android version 3.+

  • Go to your Homescreen
  • Do a long click or press the "+" Button
  • Choose Widgets
  • Search your widget and add it


On Android version 4.+

  • Go to your Homescreen
  • Open the App Drawer
  • Choose Widgets
  • Search your widget and add it

New Preferences Layout

With the growing featureset of Temperature Guard I was unsatisfied with the current preferences screen. After adding the ability to change the app theme, the temperature scale or added the cool led notification, the current preferences layout was full of options and even I always need a little bit to much time to find the setting I wanted to change. Thats why I cleaned the Temperature Guard Preferences screen in the latest version 2.6. 
When changing the temperature scale from Fahrenheit to Celsius or the other way, the app will not calculate the corresponding warning temperature automatically.

The preferences are now split into several preferences screens. The first option Temperature Icon will open a new screen with the options for the temperature icon. The Permanent notification checkbox is new. When checked the temperature notification will remain when you clear all notifications.

When clicking on the first option "Show Temperature" you can select to always show the temperature, never show the temperature or just show the temperature when charging.

All settings for the warning notification are now inside a custom preferences screen. You will reach them by clicking on "Warning Notification" when on the main preferences. There is one new option. The insistent notification can now be customized. Some people complained that they cannot remove the insistent notification. As default, this setting is disabled, so the temperature notification will only notify you once. When checked, The notification will notify you until you swipe it.

Memory Usage of Temperature Guard

I recently got a review for Temperature Guard from a guy complaining about too high memory usage. The review is in german, so I will not post it here. Well he complains that this app uses 250 mb of his smartphones memory, so he uninstalled it.
I was a little bit shocked and investigated this case. Temperature Guard Free & Pro will use about 30-75 mb of your memory, what is quite okay in my opinion.

Another thing about memory usage of apps is, that memory is made to be used. Unused memory is worthless. The android subsystem will handle memory usage, garbage collection and many more.

I received some mails from people complaining about the "tylt Qi wireless charger" overheating their Nexus 5 devices. I love the idea of wireless chargers but did not buy any yet, cause they are quite expensive. Hearing more and more rumours about wireless chargers overheating android smartphones made me implement some small new features for Temperature Guard.

Force Sound Alarm 

Inside the newest Preferences Screen you can see the option "Force sound". This will warn you when your device overheats even if your smartphone is set to silent mode. After the notification you have to set your phone to silent again.

I recently received another photo of an exploded battery apparently inside an iPhone 3GS. As you can see the battery is full blown up and wrecked the whole device. Nobody has been hurt by this accident. Maybe I should try to get an iphone and implement Temperature Guard for iOS?!

Temperature Guard Version 1.3 has just been released in google play Store and Amazon App Store.

You can use Temperature Guard to monitor your android devices temperature. The newest version features some small ui improvements and the possibility to change your desired temperature scale from Celsius to Fahrenheit.


To change the temperature scale, click on the preferenes button on the upper right of the app. In the Preferences you can tap on Temperature Scale Celsius to choose another temperature scale.
